Landslip Recovery in the Northern Rivers
Works are underway on a number of landslide sites in the Northern Rivers.
Where possible earthworks have been improving drainage lines and battering slopes, before bush regen crews undertake weed control and plant native tube stock to help revegetate the slopes in order to hold the hillsides together.
By planting species with a range of root structures and improving how the water flows across the landslip sites we are attempting to reduce the risk of more soil lost in future heavy rain events, and to reinstate the native vegetation
Challenges
The steep and often unstable ground makes this a challenging project for the teams on the ground.
