Drone-seeding Landslips

Post flood rehabilitation of landslips

This project incorporates a cutting-edge technique from AirSeed Tech for rehabilitating hard-to-access sites like landslides. By using drone technology, they can seed an area with two seed bombs per second, which allows for much faster rehabilitation than traditional labor-intensive methods.

Richmond Landcare, with support from WWF, has launched a pilot project to test this technique on a number of landslides around the Nightcap. We carefully selected species that would thrive in different soil types and microclimates, with a range of root structures including fibrous lomandras, deep-rooted water-gums, and fast-growing acacias. We’re excited to see how these sites respond to the drone-based seed dispersal and look forward to sharing the results with our community.
